A clock was set going at Brussels some time ago which continued to go for nine months, and had not run down when last beard of. An up-draught is obtained in a shaft by exposing it to the sun. This draught turns a fan, which winds up the weight of the clock till it reaches the top. It then works a brake which stops the fan until the weight Has gone down a little, when the fan is free to recommence.
