WE heir to express onr thanks to our patrons and friends for the kind and flattering appreciation of our past efforts, and feel a pardonable pride at the very emphatic endorsement which our cards have received from the American, English, Gorman, and Australian Press. With one accord these exponents of public taste have given 1 our Curds tlio first rnuk over nil simihir productions in the market. Wo aro hound to maintain this superiority j and wo have, as heretofore, spared no expense to create, with the aid of our largo oxporienco, a series oC novelties for the Christmas season, which, wo have no doubt, will moot the expectations of the trade. We have boon singularly fortunate in procuring the assistance «f, wo may say, representative American talent in the preparation of designs, and besides have scoured the co-operation of some ot the most eminent European artists. Our lino is now completed, and onr agents are on the road to call on our patrons and friends. An inspection of the sample books will convince them that, in regard to originality and variety of design, excellence and richness in execution, it far exceeds our last year’s effort. To give an idea of the high artistic order of the line, wo would say that it comprises: Figure Designs by Miss Dora Wheeler, Miss Resina Emmet, Miss L. B. Humphrey, Miss L. B. Comins, Elihu Tedder, Walter Satterloe, A. P. Brooks, and others. ■ Landscape Designs by w. Hamilton Gibson, Thomas Moran, P. L. Smith, and others. Animal Designs by B. B. Bonsoll and Horry Beard. Flower and Bird Designs by Miss Fidelia Bridges, Mrs E. 0. Whitney, Jean Rohio, of Brussels j H. Giacomelli, ot Pans, and others. It is a large folding card, heavily fringed, and provided with a leatherette protector. The front outside page is a design of peacock feathers on satin; the left inside page contains a poem specially written for this gift by Joaquin Miller, also on satin, and surrounded by a \ delicate border of oriental design; the right inside page presents Aladdin hearing his lamp, often a painting by the eminent American artist, EHhn Vedder; and to coirplete the whole, the back is embellished with a most unique, artistic design of high order. Buskin Calendar for 1884.—At the solicitation of some of our business friends, wo have this year decided to bring out a calendar, and are happy to he able to annoqnce that we shall issue a Calendar from John Buskin, for 1884. The selections have been made by a lady well known for her cultivated taste and judgment, The mount has been designed by a well known Boston artist, and, coming from her thought and tasteful skill, the form and decoration will he a fitting accompaniment to the words within. This calendar will be a source of pleasure to all who love and appreciate Euskin, that they may have every morning a jewel from the treasure of his noble and earnest thought. “ The Christmas Sheaf." —A folding card, with inside pages, in colour, stamped out in the shape of a sheaf of wheat.
