ROAD BOARDS.

LITTLE BIYKB. The monthly meeting of this Board was held on March 5; present—Meeir* Forbes (Chairman), Parkinson, and Wilson.—Mr T. H. Green, of Obrietchuroh, waited on the Board, requesting that the road leading to hie sections, 19743 and 23311, may be defined and opened, and a necessary culvert made. It was resolved that the Chief Purveyor bo requested to direct the said road to be pegged, as at present it is impossible to trace it on the ground ; and also that one culvert bo put in where it crosses drain. It was further resolved that the Chief Surveyor bo asked to have the reserve about to bo made at Aburih surveyed at his oonroniencs.—With reaard to the road through suction 4264, it was resolved that the Orowu granted lino bo adhered to, and that the fencing material on the ground be sold if possible, and if not that it bo utilised in fencing teu acre reserve lately granted to the Board on JBuaituna Flat.—Mr W. Bom waited on the Board, requesting that some repairs may be made on his cottage at Sally's Bay, as he rents same from the Board. It was resolved that Mr Forbes examine the necessity there exists for said repairs, aud if the cost should not exceed a fixed sum that they bo carried out.—The Clerk was authorised to hare some repairs dene on the road leading through Brices Valley.—The Clerk's action in purchasing some fencing posts at Birdiing’s Flat woe approved of..—The Board, i« examining the new valuation roil received from Wellington, found it contained not a few errors, and the Clerk was directed to communicate with the Property Tax Commissioner, especially with regard to the omission of the names of several occupiers (leaseholders) from the roll, the owners’ names being given instead, as the Board consider it a hardship that those persons should, in consequence, be entirely disfranchised.— Correspondence was received s—From Mr John Gebbie, requesting that be may get the first refusal of renting a reserve in the vicinity of Gebbie's valley.—Resolved—"Thatastheaaid reserve of five acres baa been made into a paddock fenced in by Mr Gebbie, the Board is happy to grant bis request."—From Messrs Harper and Co., a bill of £&, for various transact on* extending over three years. The monthly meeting of this Board wae held at the office on March 7 1 present— Messrs MTlnitib, Manson, Craighead, Grindrod, mid Josephs.—Correspondence was road: —From J. Ford, asking if the Board had finally decided not to recognise bis claim in the matter 0! the valuation of land between Hobbs and the Board. Clerk to say that Mr Ford was previously advised to that effect.— Mr Grindrod moved, and Mr Manson seconded —" That the new Board consist of five members, us at present”—ThsClerk was instructed to write to Messrs Joynt and Perceval and request that the deed between Sarah Sox aad the Board be completed.—From Clerk to Oxford Rood Board, giving information ae to the funds derived from closed road*.— Several small accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned. BAST MALVERN. The monthly meeting of this Board was held at tbs office on March 6; present— Mown Rossi!er, Barr, and BulL—Correspondence was read s—From Property Tax Department, asking the Board to correct roll, and forward to the department.—From Selwyn County Council, re urging the Government to make large and substantial endowment for charitable aid purposes. The Board approved ot the notion of the Council In this matter. —The Clerk was instructed to summon all owners of unregistered dogs after March 31, and put up notice that small birds’ eggs and unfledged birds would bo purchased on certain dates by the Board.—Thomas Pearson was appointed poundkeeper of the Waddington Pound and ranger for the district, Clerk to notify same by advertisement.—The Board agreed £0 have the thistles removed off the main roods in the district—Several accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
