SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

BOOTH BiKAU. The monthly meeting was held on Monday evening; present—Messrs Hardy (Chairman) Ga&rder, Oxley, Davies, and Cor. The muter (Mr Dixon) reported that the attendance daring the month had increased. He had alia received from Mr Howell, of Batata, a subscription of a guinea towards supplying criekstmg materials for the boys. The Goremment Inspector re carted 'that the school had again passed a very creditable examination. The work of the ichelan in Standard* 8 and 6 waa particularly neat and accurate, with the exception of being weak in geography, of the Moond Standard. The lower donee were well prepared for the work attempted. The copy and eisreue hooka throughout the school were neatly kept and carefully corrected. The organisation woe correct, the members of the staff being judiciously placed, and the discipline and order were excellent. The Committee, taking into coneiderotion that the school bad been dosed through sickness, and the children scarcely polled together when the examination took place, thought it was a good report. It was decided to close the school for the Bute? holidays, from Thursday, March 22, to Monday, April 3. The meeting then adjourned. BUSSELL’S FLAT. A meeting of the School Committee was held on March 5j present-all the members. Correspondence from the Board of Education was read appointing Mr Marshall, master, subject to his getting classification from the Minister of Education; alio informing the Committee that the Architect would visit the place and inspect the buildings, A report from the Inspector was read stating the number of passes to be 44} per cent, and in his remaria said that, however industrious the teacher might be, it was impossible for the children to make progress on account of the irregular attendance. Miss E. Wallace waa appointed sewing mistress if approved by the Beard of Education. After other minor matters were discussed the meeting adjourned.
