RANGIORA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

President—Mr H. Blackett; TreasurerMr B. Atkinson; Hon Secretary—Mr C. I. Jennings. The third show of the presont season, and the fifteenth under the auspices of the above Hociety, was held yesterday in the Institute Hall, Bangiora. The number of exhibits was not up to that of the autumn show of last year, the decrease being particularly noticeable in the pot plants section. This can in a measure be accounted for by the fact that several of the old exhibitors—of whom may be mentioned Messrs Bobson and Witohell—were not showing yesterday. There was, as usual, ft graad display of fuchsias, chiefly made by Mr A. Ogden and Mr J. Thompson, tho former taking all the prizes in this section in the open class, and the latter all those of tho amateurs. Mr B. Wright had a good display of pelargoniums in the open class, and also three exhibits of coxcombs, which the Judges considered equal to any exhibited at the Ohristohuroh shows., The show of out blooms in both classes was large, and exceedingly fine. The prize for a general collection was taken by Mr S. Stephens; and Mr H. B. Goodeve took the first prize for roses in the saroe class with 12 very fine blooms. The prizes for a stand of flowers and a table bouquet were secured by Miss Stapleforth, and that for the hand bouquet by Mr H. Stephens. In the amateur class the competition for hand and table bouquets was very keen, the prizes for the former failing to Miss Wigney, for the latter to Mrs Downes and Miss Haworth. Fruit was well represented, but the Committee suffered a disappointment at the abnence of Mr W. B. Ivory's usual collection of apples, whioh on all former occasions had been such an attraction in this olaas. The loas wai in some way made up by the firnt class collections exhibited by Mr T. Pring and Mr J. V. Turner, of North Loburn. A fine collection of fruit and another one of pears was shown by Mr W. Stapleforth, for both of which first prizes were awarded. Mr 8. Stephens had also some good exhibits in thil section. The entries in the vegetable seotion were not so numerous as they were expected to be, but the quality of the exhibits was however good. In the open class Mr B. Kenknight, » new exhibitor, took a large number of the priaws.and in the amateur class Mr A, Oatohpole bad it all his own way, u » glance at the appended prize list will show. A brae* of out-door grown ououmbers were shown by Mr B. Atkinson, which for tise and quality would vie with the framegrown vegetables. The judging auUeswere Barf armed by Messrs W> Norman, D.Nawn, JT Joyce, and Meaars 8. Stephens, Of. Bobson sad J. Nairn carried out the staging in a Judicious manner, making the ball to P"""" i very gay appearance. The judges and the miwoasing Committee lunched at Bobert* Junction Hotel during the afternoon.
