KxmKATIOIf. Thie diagram shows the weather over temperate latitude* of Australia and New Zealand. The dotted line* or ibobabb connect equal reading* of the barometer at 9 a.m. on the above date, and thus indicate the general circulation of the atmosphere, the wind alwave following the lines, changing it* direction a* they change, and increasing in force according to the amount of difference of barometer which they cxprsH^ The arrows fly with the wind, which always blows in a contrary direction to the movement of the band* of a clock round an area of high barometer, and with the clock hands round a row barometer or cyclonic area. Changes of weather chiefly arise from the eastward progress of these latter disturbances at a rate of 800 to 600 miles in 24 hours. All local deflections of the isobabb doe to the shape of the land are omitted.
