His first appearance in public wae made in tho Maribyrnong Plate, in which ho finished unplaced, but in Captain Hairnet* colour* he won the Bormanby Stake*, as above-mentioned. He was than sold for 18S0 guinea* to Ur Smart, his present victory being Me first appearance in that gentleman’s colours.

Asa two-year-old be ran eight times, winning five events, including the Nomanby Stakes, the Ascot Yale Stakes, and the A. J.O* Champagne Stakes. As a three-year-old he won the A.J.O. Derby and Mares'Produce Stokes, and the T.E.O. Derby, Me last appearance previous to his present victory being in the Champion Stakes, when he finished third to Commotion and Guesswork.

Guesswork is by Gang Forward (imp) out of Peradvehtnre (imp), by Adventurer out of Manganese, by Irish Bird catcher; Gang Forward being by Stookwell out of Lady Mary, by Orlando. He has not been seen out since he ran Commotion to half a head for the Champion Stakes. Frying ran is by Bethnal Green (imp) out of Saucepan (imp), by f’olaterdalo oat 4#f Sister to Gridiron, by Daniel O’Bonrke; Bethnal Green being by Beadsman out of Ealipyge, by Bay Middleton. He won the Caulfield Guineas this season, and ran second to Navigator for the V.HO. DorbyJ Brunswick Stakes, a handicap sweepstakes of 5 sovs each, 2 It, with 350 added.
