UNION BOWING CLUB. The Junior Double Sculling races in connect.on with the above Club, took place on Saturday, over the mile course, from Pratt’s to the Willows. Owing to the attraction offered by the swimming race, there was a large number of spectators along the banks of the river. Stroke of the winning boat, sculled in fine style; and bow, although not very neat in his execution, pulled extremely well in »both heats. The steering of both cockswains was very good, that of Hinge being especially noticeable. If taken in hand, he promises to turn out extremely well. , SI BBT HEAT. Daphne—o. F. Bowley (stroke), Ji 8.. Lough (bow), W. Pengelly (cex) ... 1 Dolphin—B. H. Woledge (stroke), W. G. Ataok (bow), A, Hinge (cex) 2 A fine start was effected, the boats keeping together for about 60 yards, when the Daphne began to draw away, having about a length and a half to the good at Bassett’s. At the bathing place, where the water was deep, Woledge spurted, and gained a length, only to lose two before Oowliabaw’s was reached. The Daphne led by two lengths at the bridge, both crews pulling hard. In the straight Woledge spurted, and being well backed up by his bow, began to pick up; hut the effort was futile, for the Daphne passed the post first by a little more than a length.. The losers were considerably overmatched in weight, and that they made such a good race was a surprise to many. They sculled well together, and very neatly. BSCOHDHBAT. Dolphin—Bowley and Lough, Pengelly (cox) ... 1 Daphne—G. Wright (stroke); H. Hinge (bow), A. Hinge (cox) 2 Mr Mansfield again secured a good start, both boats going away well together. Bowley quickly took the lead,, being about three lengths in front at the bathing place. Wright spurted up to Oowliehaw’s, but did not decrease his opponent’s lead. At the bridge the Dolphin led by four lengths, and about the same distance separated the boats at the winning post. Hinge pulled in anything but good form.
