While the whole expenses * of the examinations of; 1878 amounted only to £633 18s Id, the whole expenses of the last examination,' held in November and December, 1879, amount to not less than £134010s lOd, inclusive .of an estimated sum of £IOO required to pay telegraph and other charges cbnnebted with the sending of a portion of the papers to. be examined in England. The oast of the, examinations has thus increased in bfio year by a turn of £686 12s 9d. The in-. Crioase is cuatiibuted over the several items os follows':— 1 ■ 1 ' ■
