A curious incident occurred on Jan; 30 (states the Ballarat Courier ) showing how easily wood will ignite during the present hot weather. While a train’was passing near the ,QjJeeh-‘atreet bridge a spark from the funnel lodged on a telegraph- post;; about 4fb from the top, and in a few minutes the post was in full blaze. Fortunately the flames were put out in a few minutes, the only damage being, that the post was much charred.
