In spite of the dull trade, the year 1879 has beaten the year 1878 in the extent of its published literature. During the 12 months, according to the Publishers’ Circular, 5834 he’w bboks and new editions have been issued from the press against 5314 in 1878, and it is noteworthy that works of fiction number 1013 against 879.
