Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations} asunder— Wednesday, Jan, 14. For Wellington, per Taiaroa, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letter* till 11.45 a.m.; guard’s van, railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. Thursday, Jan. 16. For the United Kingdom. vik Brindisi, and Southampton, (for specially addressed ooirespondence only). Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterranean ports, Australian Colonies, &0., per express train, to connect with s s, Bingarooma at the Bluff, at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers at 6 a.m.; money orders,at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14; registered letter* at 5 p.m, on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Lata fee letters for these mails may be posted in the travelling post office attached to the express train on Thursday, Jan. 15. , , , For Northern ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, via Sydney, per Arawata. at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2,40 p.m. train, For Otago, par Waitaki. Saturday, Jan. 17, For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, at 7.30 a.m.; guard's van, 9 a.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom via San Francisco will close at Christchurch on Jan. 81, and will be due in London on March 10.
