AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of tho Committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday a following members were present—Mr Andrew Duncan (in the chair), and Mow* Bruce, John Mann, J. B. Hill, Robert Wilkin, A. W. Money, John Anderson, jun., William Norman, H. Washbourne, senr., John Deans, John M'Beath, Murray-Aynsloy, and R. Sutherland. , . Letters of apology wore read from Messrs Cunningham, Henderson, and Ford. JUDGES AND MARSHALS. The question of filling the vacancies in tbe list of judges of breeding cattle was discussed, and remitted to the Sub-Committee previously appointed to make the best arrangements suitable. Nominations for vacancies m other classes were made. The only vacancy m the hat of Marshal* was filled. PIN INCH. The account* passed for payment amounted to £212; tho Association’s credit balance at ' the Bank was stated at £304 7s. HOBSB BOXES. Mr E. Wilkin moved that 15 new horse boxes be constructed under the superintendence of Messrs Norman, Henderson, and Sutherland. , - ~ _ T The motion was seconded by Mr Norman and agreed to. PARADE. The Yard Committee was recommended to make arrangements for having a pamde of stud animals on the second day of the Show* foddee. The question of selling fodder was discussed, and it was decided that the Association would for this year provide fodder, which would be purchasable by the exhibitors at a certain price per specified weight. CABE-TAZKB. The Committee appointed for the purpose, reported that they had appointed Mr Luke Archer as care-taker. Mr Wilkin explained that he believed Mr Archer was the very best man that could bo appointed. Mr John Overton was duly elected a member of the Association, which now numbers over 350 members. SUBSCRIPTIONS. It was determined to endeavour to get in the annual subscriptions as soon as possible. SCAB. The Secretary said that several persons had asked him about the danger of scab being introduced at the Show ; but he had made enquiry from the Inspector, who had assured him that there was no scab in the district. BOOKS AND MEDALS. The Chairman announced that the books and medals had arrived. Mr Wilkin said there was a feeling that the library of the Association was too limited. LAND TAX.

A chum for £lO 10s lOd, land tax for 12 months, was submitted for its payment to be sanctioned, but the Committee resolved to sanction payment of only a half-year’s tax. Several other questions of detail were settled. The Committee then adjourned.
