ROAD BOARDS.

LINCOLN. An ordinary meeting of this Board was held at the office, Prebbleton, on Oct. 2j present—Messrs H. W. Peryman (Chairman), J. W. Overton, J. Maekrey, J. Haydou, and W, 0. Ladbrook. —Correspondence was read: Prom Mr Thomas Sutton, complaining of the overflow of tramway drains on to his land, and drawing attention to the necessity of clearing out a drain on the northern boundary of section 1106 in order to relieve Dawson’s drain.—The Surveyor having reported favourably as to the carrying out ot Mr Sutton’s suggestion, it was decided to call for tenders for the work, to be sent in bjr Oct. 10.—From the Immigration Officer asking if any of the cottages were vacant. Resolved—'“ That the persons now occupying the immigrants’ cottages at Lincioln bis given one week’s notice to quit, so as to have the cottages available for immigrants.” From Courtenay Hoad Board enclosing cheque for £lO 16s, half cost of work performed on South road.—From Messrs Austin and Kirk quoting price of drain pipes.—From Selwyn County Council informing the Board that the several gravel pit reserves in the County had been recently vested in the Council, and that they were of opinion it would be desirable as a general rule that such reserves should be placed under the control of the Boad Boards in which they are situated; and enquiring if the Board would be willing to undertake tbe control of the reserves in tbe district subject to their use for supply of gravel for works carried on by Government, County Councils, or Boad Boards of an adjoining district, and also to their being resumed by the Council at any time if for public reason it should think necessary to do so. Resolved —“That this Board undertake the control of the gravel reserves in tbe district, subject to the conditions mentioned by the Oounoil.”—Other correspondence of minor importance was also considered.—Proposed by Mr Hayden, and seconded by Mr Overton, —“That the road running through sections 2340,2341,1090 and 1106, from Ellesmere road, by Dawson’s to Moffatt’s bridge on the Tramway road be opened, and that tenders be called for its formation at once.” Carried.— The Surveyor was instructed to serve notices to trim gone fences adjoining the above road, on owners of land abutting it; also, to call (or tenders for carting clay to form footpaths at Frebbleton, and for cleansing and maintaining Dawson’s creek and Townsnend’adraia for twelve months.—Tenders were opened lor forming Prebble’s road, and one accepted.— The Collector was instructed to take out summonses for all outstanding rates at once.— The pay-sheet amounting to £IOS 10s 3d having been passed for payment the Board adjourned.
