COURSING.

CANTERBURY CLUB. The running for the stakes comprising the Vico-President’s meeting wo* resumed yesterday morning in the North Park shortly after nine o’clock. There were very few spectators present except those with some personal interest in the doge, but towards the latter end of tho day a considerable number mustered. The weather was then very bad, a nasty mist hanging over the ground, and shortly after tho first course was run the rain set m and continued almost without intermission throughout the day l in fact, towards the dose the weather was execrable, rendering tho whole proceedings very unpleasant In tho early part of the day tho hares came readily to hand, but after a while they got scared and were constantly on the move in the covers, so that the waits between the later courses were very tedious; indeed hares got so scarce, and tho weather so severe when the last brace of dogs in the Christchurch Stakes were in the slips, that their owners wisely agreed to divide. As a whole the coursing was much superior to that of yesterday, three of the runs being excellent ones. Mr Lloyd’s duties were far from onerous, and tho stewards found plenty to do in tho covers. Mr Anson’s slipping was an improvement on yesterdays. . , In the Maiden Puppy Stakes, Chang had no difficulty in placing a win to Ms credit, and there is little doubt that Honeymoon would have puUed off the ChmUffiuroh Stakes, bar accident®* She emtilj boat for pace, and the latter dog, in the racing stretches of a bye, ran away from Zoe, who later on met Honeymoon. An before stated, the stake was divided. Xhb Maidxk Puppx Stakes. n. Chine beat BUeV Cloud. Furthest Markham. m. Chans beat Bob Kaadb. Flirt, a bye. —Lillis Bel*. ■ .. second bound (continued;. Br favour, Black Cloud was slightly in advance to the turn, but Chang immediately went to tho front keeping his position all through in a fair spin to the firs. The best course of the day followed, between Markham and Flirt. To a long slip the dog showed first up, but as the hare bent round Flirt secured the turn and scored some nice work, and she held her game welL The dog was slightly fastest, but working fearfully wide could not take advantage of his pare, and the hare keeping well to the open Flirt, after flecking once, turned to tho dog, who made a drive and bringing puss round, gave way to Flirt, who quickly killed. THIED BOUND. Chang easily disposed of Bob Buadh in a rerj short course, tho hare escaping, and Flirt beat Bother’em in a bye. FINAL OOUEBB. Chang was first up, and the hare favoured him for the next point, Flirt being a little wide. However, the dog always had most foot, and won well at tho cover side. The Cheistchuech Stakes, IT. Sweep beat St. Bees Honeymoon beat Fly. Zoe beat Banner (I) in. Honeymoon beat Sweep (X) Soe a bye IT. Mr E W. Soper’s bkw b Honeymoon, Tumult— Hergery Haw, and Mr G. Bali's I b Zoe, Scan Mag —Knbina, divided. SECOND BOUND. Sweep was first up to Ms hare, but, steadying himself, St. Bees nearly passed W>. The red dog then went on, and simply had it all his own way in a good run, Wiling at the cover side. Honeymoon, in a long lead to cover, never allowed Fly to score. Banner and Zoo were despatched from a cross slip, the latter getting the advantage. Banner met with a nasty fall, which nearly stunned her, and the result was given a “ no -course.” An undecided followed wlien they next met, and at the third try Zoe ran clean away from her opponent, who was evidently suffering severely from her fall. THIED BOUND. Honevmoon and Sweep ran a short undecided, and then the bitch easily beat Lim for pace in a nasty short course. Zoe tan her bve in the South Fart with usuaf law, were sent to slips, bat in spite of the exertions of the beaters a hare could not be found, and as night was closing in a division was arranged.
