PARLIAMENT OUT OF SESSION.
ME IELDWIOK AT INVERCARGILL. [By Tbmsbaph.] . {TIMES' SPECIAL WIRE.] INVERCARGILL, Jdnh 19. Mr Eeldwiok, M.H.R., addressed a large meeting of the electors to-night, at. the Theatre Royal, Mr Pratt in the chair. His speech was principally a resume of the proceedings of last Session. The speaker compared his‘promises made at the hustings with his performances m the Houee with a' result favourable to himself. With regard to Education, he was in favour of free and secular, and as for Bible reading in schools, he thought that if a conscience clause were inserted, the Bible might be read as an; historical work. He was not in favour of the Local Option Bill, unless compensation to publicans was provided. He would hot be one to take away a license from a well: ordered hotel. Ho spoke generally, and' warmly in favour of the Ministry, and should: continue to give them his support. ! He would support "moderate Immigration, as public Works and Immigration must go hand in hand. Mr Feldwiok received a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence.
