Lyttelton Timet Office, Saturday evening. CUSTOMS’ REVENUE. The following was the Customs’ revenue collected on Friday, Feb. 7 £ s. d. ’
Mr J. L. Wilson reportsWheat—The market is not yet settled. The miller and merchant do not seem to have settled the price, and from the tone of growers of importance they are for shipping on their own account, and really from the low price offered there can not be much risk, only one parcel sold at Ss. Oats are coming to more freely. The market is unsettled, and there does not appear to. any outside orders worth note, nor do the prospects for any price look good. I have had offered during the week 3s B<d and 3s 4d, but to-day, at auction, could not get 3s, consequently all lots were withdrawn. Barley is to request, but sellers and buyers are a long way apart to some tostances. Bayers can get one barley from Marlborough at less money than sellers here are willing to sell for. The market price-is about 5s 6d for good, price varying according to quality, and no pain varies more. Flour—Good finds a market, iut the price will most probably be lower. I have not sold under £lO yet for best brands. Potatoes, not yet ripe, seUtog small quantities, at £B. Grass seed moved off, all I bad on hand at auction, prices over some five lots, vaiying in quality, from 4s to 6s 4d. Cocksfoot, one lot, sold at 6d per ilb. Laud and property, nothing doing. The prospects are for private sales:—Cottage property is much inquired for.
