WELLINGTON REGATTA.

[By Telegbaph.] [TIMES' SPECIAL WIRE.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 22. The four-oared outrigger race, three miles, Ist prize, silver salver and £25 ; second, £lO. Three started for this race. The Dolly Varden was run into by a sailing boat almost immediately she started. After a fair race Torpedo won, VVanganui being second j time, 25min 30sec. Wanganui 45 seconds behind. The ships’ gig race, Ist prize, cup and £lO ; second, £5. Three started, and the Hermione won, Neptune being second. Open Boat Sailing Race, 10 miles; Ist prize, Kohn and Co.’s cup and £lO ; 2nd, £5. Toy, with centre-boards down, 1 ; Otaki, 2. Junior Four-oared Outrigger Race ; Ist prize, £l2 ; 2nd, £5. Torpedo, 1; Rocket, 2. Whaleboat Race, three miles; Ist prize, Heslop’s cup and £2O ; 2nd, £7. The Echo broke her stroke oar at starting. The Arawata won easily ; Danger, the Wanganui boat, a bad second.

Junior Pair-oared Race —Hebe, 1; Venus, 2.

The remaining events were First-class Yacht Race, 20 miles, for the N.Z. Shipping Company’s Cup and £33 ; 2nd, £ls. Florence, 1; Zarifa, 2. The Pet and Oontrabandiero both broke something. Coasters’ Race, 20 miles ; for Shaw, Savill & Co.’s Cup and £4O; 2nd, £ls. The Sarah Pile came in first by six miles, but had to make time allowance for tonnage for others, which gave Saucy Lass 1, Star of the Sea 2. Second class Yacht Race, 10 miles, for Mr Cohen’s cup and £ls, second £7 —Bed Jacket, 1 ; The Brothers, 2. Seven started. Junior Pair Gig Race; £5 —Hebe, 1. Four-oared Outrigged Race, 3 miles; £2O, second £s—The DoSy Vardens in the Rover had it all their own way, winning easily; Maude, 2 ; the Wanganui crew in the Transit * bad third. Time —25min 32secs. Ships' Boats Sailing Race, cup and £5, second £2—Otaki, 1; Pleiades, 2. An excellent race and close finish. Scullers’ Race, cup worth £7—Hearn, 1; Furness, 2. Senior Pair-oared Gig Race, cup worth £lO, second £2—Dart, 1; Venus, 2. The regatta was very successful, and there were no accidents of any kind.
