favourable. Ho is in a critical condition, however, suffering from concussion of the brain, and remains insensible. It appears the tank ho struck was temporarily erected on a pile of sleepers, and was thus closer to the lino than usual. There is no doubt tlio accident occurred through his striking the pile of sleepers mentioned.” The latest intelligence received by us was through a telegram forwarded at 10.50 p.m,, from Gore to tho Hon Colonial Treasurer at Invercargill, and which bo banded to the Press reporter*. It is as follows: —" Convers certainly not worse j if anything, a little better.” A special train left Christchurch at 7.30 last evening, containing Mrs Conyers and her son, with Mr F. Back, the general manager. It was intended to try and do the distance in 1G hours. We sincerely hope that on its arrival, flie injured gentleman may have given further indications of an improvement.
