ROAD BOARDS.

KOWAL A speeial meeting was held at the Board office on Wednesday, at 2 p.m.; all the members were present,—The object of the meeting was to pass the valuation list for the current year, which was approved of. A considerable addition has been made to the number of ratepayers in this district during the past year, in consequence of the large area of Crown lands made freehold, before the withdrawal of land from free selection. The value of properties in the various townships that have been established in this Koad Board district of late has also very considerably increased, the establishment of two banks showing that other than purely local interests have faith in its future welfare.
