[By Telegbaph.] [TIMES* SPECIAL WIRE.] INVERCARGILL, Jan. 15. The polling for the Mataura election has resulted os follows : Shanks. Kinross. Waihopai 124 174 Carapbelltown ... ... 14 13 Gore ... 40 12 Mataura Bridge ... 43 3 Woodlands 0 31 Wyndhatn 52 3 This gives a total of 273 for Mr Shanks, and 236 for Mr Kinross. One return has yet to come in, but it will in all probability only augment Mr Shanks’ majority.
