OCCUPATION OF CYPRUS.

Sir Garnet Wolseley took official possession of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, on July 80, The spcciol correspondent of the Daily News, in a telegram giving an account of Sir Garnet’s reception, says that before entering the town he was met by the Greek priest, who poured scent upon his hands, gave him bouquets, and addressed to him a few words of welcome. Sir Garnet Wolseley consulted the Indian generals and medical authorities, who agreed tnat it would not be advisable to act upon the suggestion. Ponding the reply of the Government, the completion of the arrangements was stopped. Meanwhile all the Native troops were camped around Larnaea. Civil commissioners have been appointed for Limasol, Famagusta, and Paphos. The English post-office is in working order, A Times telegram states that Greeks from Constantinople, having purchased all the large houses at Larnaea, are demanding fabulous rents, and that many adventurers are arriving in the expectation of making their fortunes.
