ASHBURTON.

A meeting was held at the Rood Board Office on Thursday evening, for the purpose of forming a club; Mr J.B, Buchanan in the chair. A Committee was elected to make arrangements for the use of a paddock. It was decided to call the plub 11 The Ashburton County Cricket Club," and also that the first practice should take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. The annual subscription was fixed at 16s.

SUNNYBIDH. The annual meeting of this club was held at the Asylum on Wednesday evening last, Mr J. Hopper presiding. The accounts presented to the meeting showed the olub to be in a flourishing condition, upward of £SO standing to ,its credit. This is very encouraging to the members, who look forward with pleasure to the forthcoming season, when they hope to be able to uphold their reputation as they have done in the past. It was agreed that the entrance fee should be reduced from 10s 6d to ss, end also (hat an annual subscription of 10s per member be paid, so as to dispense with the monthly payment formerly exacted. Ho member will be allowed to play unless bis subscription be Repaid. The officers for the ensuing yeaf were elected as follows -.—Treasurer, Mr R. Raxworthy. re-eleoted; Secretary, Mr J. Hill, in place of Mr B. Petrie, resigned; Committee—Messrs J. Kinsman, W. Whitley. P. S. Petrie, F. J. Reeder, G. Francis, and J. Hopper. The selection of captain was held over till a future meeting. A hearty vote of thanks to tbe Treasurer. Secretary, and* tbe retiring Committee for their untiring exertions on behalf of the Club during tbe past year brought a very agreeable meeting to a close. The annual general meeting of this Club was held at Lewtsn's Junction Hotel on Thursday evening ; present—Mr 0. Merton, president, and 12 members. The report of the outgoing Committee was received; It ■bowed that the Bub-Oommittee had much improved the ground, and they recommended that a small pavilion be erected op it. The ground would be in good order for play this season. The Treasurer made bis statement, showing a balance to the credit of the Club of £6 8s 9d, the receipts for the year having been £42 3s 4d, and the expenditure £BS 14s 7J. Both reports were adopted. The follow* ing new members were proposed, viz, Messrs Aherne, Ball, Boyle, Boys, B. and_ 0. D’Auvergne, Hanna, 0. and B. Jennings, Beach, G. H. Merton, Beid, Boberts, J. Scott, Vincent, .Wroughton, and Yates, The Club numbers at the present time 43 members. The election of officers was then proceeded with, when Mr 0. Merton was. re-elected President, and B. B. Good, Secretary and Treasurer. A Committee of five, viz., Messrs Hunnibell, Yates, Burt, Martin, and Thorne, was also elected. It was resolved to hold the opening match on Saturday, Oct. 6, to be the best eleven and the 22 next best with Mr E. B. Good as Captain. A quantity of new material being required, it was. resolved to procure it at once. The meeting then adjourned.
