ROAD BOARDS.

~ Bl SPEEYDON. A meeting of tho Sproydon Eoad Board was held b 1 on Tuesday. March 6 : present—Messrs 8011, Bnx- hi ton, and Fantham. In the absence of Mr Tancred, 6Mr Bell was elected to the chair,—Tenders were accepted for gravelling Wilderness, Milner’s, Vickery’s, Smith’s, Eoskmge’s. Candy 8, and Addington roads: for Forming Harris’ road, subject to half the cost of the work being received.—Letters were read—From tbo Chairman of the Bolwyn r County Council, asking for information about roads, Ac. From Mr Torrens, requesting - tbo Board to make a footpath from the bridge to tljo Cashmere road, and stating that he would give the gravel required. Ordered to be done.—From Messrs Taylor, Cox, and Nevin, complaining of a nuisance. Ordered to bo inspected, E and if necessary attended to.—Resolved, that tho attention of che Drainage Board be directed to the necessity of a new culvert being placed Si on the Wilderness road, tho old one being s: worn out out; that the attention of the City Council be drawn to tho necessity of clearing & tho side channel. South Town Belt: that the attention of tho Board of Health bo directed to a nuisance on the South Town Belt, caused by the side channel being overgrown with watercress, &c., 1 also to a low place on Mr Flemings jiroporty, . Durham street, Newtown, which required hllingup, | it being a great nuisance to tho locality; that the Government bo requested to put in a pipe at Dur- « ham street under the railway: that tho levels bo taken of Colombo road from tiie bolt to Waltham drain, with a view to concrete channelling, also to see if a pipe could bo laid from the gravel pipe Into the creek to lower the wator,-It was determined to cart gravel on to Montreal street, Newtown, and to -j havo^acoarsoscreen made.—Messrs J having an interview with tholiiocaiton Uoad Board respecting broken metal for Lincoln road As tbo Hiccarton Board did not agree to pay half thocoat of tho metal, it was resolved to use screened gravel.—Mr Mila’s name was added to the Building Committee.— The Board then adjourned.
