LINCOLN.

A meeting of this Board was held in the office, Prebbleton, on Thursday, March 1; present—Messrs J. N. Tots will (Chairman), Maakrey, and Perryman. The Surveyor read his report—ln reply to a letter to the Halswell Boad Board in reference to re-letting the contract for cleansing the river Halswell, the Surveyor was requested to state that the Lincoln Boad Board would be happy to eontribute a reasonable sum for tbe purpose, the work to ba under the supervision of the Holtwell Board; also, to ask for an estimate of tbe total coat of the work. —In answer to a letter received from Mr Bobert Aiken relative to out gone lying upon a public road opposite to Mr Parker’s property, near Prebbleton, the Surveyor was instructed to reply that notice had already been given to Mr Parker, and that, if tbe naitanoe complained of was not immediately removed, the Board would cause the same to be doneat hie ooit.—The Surveyor informed the Board that be bad attended the Provincial Auditor on Jon. 19, and tbat the books, account*, vouchers, &c., had been satisfactorily passed and signed by him as correct. —Correspondence was read at follows: —From Mr G. A. Buck, offering to prepare the ratepayers’ list for the electoral roll for the sum of £5. The Chairman informed the Board that he had authorised the Surveyor to accept Mr Buck’s offer.—From the Colonial Treasurer, requesting to know the name of the Bonk at which the Board keep tbeir account. —From the Registrar-General, Wellington, requesting tbat certain forms might be filled up and returned.—From tbe Colonial Treasurer, enclosing forms of returns to be filled up.— From the Chairman of tho Selwya County Council, requesting to bo furnished with certain returns with reference to oil rateable property, roods, bridges, drains, &0., in the district.—From Messrs Hamilton, Bros., Oxford, enclosing price of timber delivered at Oxford station. —From Mr J. B. The Hoard promised to give prompt attention to their recommendation.—A memorial was received from Mr John iiamtord and several others, requesting the Hoard to form the public rood between sections No. 81 and 14, Woolston, now in a most Impassable condition. Tho Board ordered to bo formed 20 chains from the entrance to tho Ferry rood, Letters were rood—From Mr Fenton, floathooto Arms, Ferry road, complaining of tho foal state of tho drain between Mr Hatcher's S remises and tho bridge. Ordered to bo immolatoly attended to.—From Messrs Adams and Son, Fast town belt, requesting permission to erect a verandah at their premises. Granted, subject to tho usual conditions.—From the Clerk to the Assessment Court, requesting permission to have the nso of tho Hoad Hoard office to hold tho Assessment Court. Granted. Prom Mr M'Qrogor, requesting the Board to form tho road from near tho old Stanmoro road to the Band Hills. Ordered to ',bo carried out, If the usual conditions are compiled with,—After the Hoard had gone through a largo amount of correspondence, and ordered tho same to bo answered, tenders worn opened for keeping Dyer's Foss rood in repair for twelve months, building a largo concrete culvert at the foot of tho hills, and shingling 630 yards of the Biver Avon road.—Tho Hoard then decided on calling for tenders for forming 29 chains of Dyer's road, tho Biver road from the Perry road to the Bailway Station at Opawa, 300 yards of metal for tho Gas Works toad, and 200 yards of broken metal for immediate use.—Payments wore then made amounting to £221 15s 10d, and tho Heard adjourned.

The matter was left for tho Chairman and Mr Deans to decide.— A letter was road from Mr G. Leslie Lee, Registration Officer for the district, enclosing electoral rolls, and asking if the Clerk would mark off such names as had ceased to possess the necessary qualij fication; also, offering information for the preparation of tho ratepayers* roll required unde; the G Registration of Electors Act. Tho Board directed n the Clerk to comply with Mr Lee's request, and to !• thank him for his offer of assistance in the preparation of the roll, which would gladly be accepted.—A letter was read from Messrs Durey, Watson, and Stanley, in reference to the damage caused to property by the overflow of the Biver Styx. The Surveyor was instructed to examine the locality, and report at next meeting.— Messrs J. T. Bell and J. S, Buxton (as a deputation from the Bpreydon Eoad Board) had an interview 0 with the Board in reference to the maintenance of the Lincoln road. After much discussion on the *• difference between fcbe coat of broken metal and 1, gravel, and the quantity required, it was resolved 3 11 that the Biccarton Road Board will agree to pay 3s 6d per yard for so much broken metal as the Bpreydon Board may consider necessary for repairs to the Lincoln road during the ensuing year." The deputation considered 4s per yard would be on equitable price for the Riccarton District to pay, but ultimately accepted the terms offered.— 'The Surveyor s report was read and considered,— p With respect to the opening up of the Wairarapa road, it was resolved to defer the work for future consideration.—The Clerk was instructed to write 1 to the Bailway Engineer, and call his attention to a the dangerous state of the Bailway crossing on the j. Biccarton road.—The Surveyor reported on the ’ works carried out by the Drainage Board within the r District. The report was considered satisfactory. —After passing accounts for work done, and other routine business, the Board adjourned. TEMPLETON, The usual monthly meeting of this Board took Slace at the Road Board office, Taldhurst, on fonday, March 5; present—Messrs Bailey Chairman), Carpenter, Delamain, Jones, and Sinclair.— After the Surveyor’s report had been adopted, a letter was read from the hou the Colonial I revmrer J referring to certain clauses in the Public Works Act, 1876, and stating that the subsidies payable to the several Boad Districts under the Financial s Arrangements Act, 1876, would be paid to the District Fund Account at the Bank appointed by the Board y in each case, instead of being paid as heretofore to the Chairman of the Board-—Memoranda, enJ closing quotations of reduced prices of drain--9 pipes, were also received from Messrs Austin . and Kirk, and Mr Joseph B. Sheath, the Clerk being instructed to file the same.—A letter 9 was read from tho Chairman ot the Selwyn County Council, asking to bo furnished with certain [ statistics, to assist the Council in deciding upon the proportion in which the funds p >yabie to the ' County should be distributed among the various > Bond Boards within the County. Coup was re-elected Chairman for the ensuing I year. Letters were read —From Birch and Co , resupplying cement for Flaxton bridge.—Prom Mr I , P. C. Threlkeld, informing the Board that some I person had out the Eyre embankment on Wood's I road daring the last flood, and requesting the I Board to pay the full cost of making the embankment across Wood's road. The Board declined to accede to Mr Threlkeld’s request. Mr Dixon asked I the Board to clear and keep the Eyre drain reserve I ploughed, so as to pi event the lodgment of silt I and rubbish. He also complained of Mr Burgess I keeping a fence across the reserve, and requested I the Board to order its removal. Mr Dixon's re- I quest was agreed to.—Mr M'Roberts asked tho Board to clean out the drain along the Oxford and I Ohoka road, from Ashworth’s road to the end of the drain, along Chapman’s land.
