ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD.

A special meeting of the Ashburton Road Board took place at their office on Deo. 15. Present Messrs Saunders, Harrison, and M‘Miller fin the chair.) It was resolved, “ That Fuller be written to, and requested to come to animmediate understanding with the. Board re fulfilment of contract on M‘Ltou’l road, and to be informed that if he neglected more than seven days from date, the work will be re-let at his risk and expense; that the clerk be directed to write to the Superintendent, stating the probable cost of obtaining a sufficient supply of water for extinction of fire in the town of Ashburton; that Mr Wynn Williams be informed that any document sent in a formal manner to the clerk will be considered as received by the Board; that Mr Martin be written to, stating the reason why an order drawn by Mr Foliar in his favour and presented to theßoard was not paid.” —An application from Mr Fowler for a foothpath in front of his premises was granted on the usual terms.—Mr Cooper’s letter, regarding alteration of gravel reserve within section 20619, was referred to the surveyor to report upon.—The overseer’s resignation was accepted. —The clerk was directed to advertise for a working overseer at a salary of £l5O per annum, bouse rent free and forage for one horse allowed.—Tenders were opened for the building of 21 immigrant's cottages, and for metalling on Elgin road, when one was accepted in each Case.—Accounts to the amount of £48611s Id were passed for payment.
