Miscellaneous. PARIS EXHIBITION, 1867GOLD MEDAL. CLAYTON, SHUTTLEWORTH, & CO., at the great triennial trials of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, held at Bury St. Edmunds, July, 1867, received the following awards;—For single cylinder portable steam engine, the First Prize of £25. For double cylinder portable steam engine, the First Prize of £25. For horizontal cylinder fixed engine, the First Prize of £2O. For double blast finishing thrashing machine, the Prize of £ls. Also the Society’s Silver Medal for adjusting blocks for machines. The duty performed by all C. S. and Co.’s engines on this occasion, considerably exceeded that of any others. C, S. and Co. refer with pleasure to the fact that the duty of their “Commercial,” or single valve Engine, at Chester, so lung ago as 1858, was not equalled by any “ ordinary ” Engine at Bury. FREEMAN’S CHLORODYNE. npHE ORIGINAL CHLORODYNE, in--1 vented by RICHARD FREEMAN Pharmaceutist, is one of the greatest discoveries of the present age, and is largely used by the most eminent medical men in hospital and private practice in all parts of the globe. It rapidly relieves pain, from whatever cause, allays the irritation of fever, soothes the system under exhausting diseases, and gives sleep without producing the distressing symptoms which arise from the use of opiates. Consumption, coughs, colds, influenza, bronchitis, asthma, hooping cough, diarrhoea, dysentry, cholera, spasms, cramps, rheumatism, gout, &c., immediately relieved, and in most cases cured. Conclusive evidence of the value of it in cholera, diarrhoea, and dysentry is afforded by the following from the Eight Honourable Earl Russell, who graciously transmitted it to the inventor of Chlorodyne Mr R. Accidental Injuries, Infantile ailments. will be found cooling, sedative, and healing. The part affected should be fomented in warm water, dried gently, and the Ointment should be instantly applied. This purifying Ointment may be safely used in all eruptions, chafings, and other cutaneous affections to which children are liable. Bad Leos, Bad Beeasts, Old Sobes and Ulcees. —By rubbing the Ointment round the affected parts, it penetrates to the tissues beneath, and exercises a wonderful power on all the blood flowing to, and returning from, the diseased part. The inflammation diminishes, the pain becomes less intolerable, the matter thicker, and a cure is soon effected. In all long standing cases, Holloway’s Pills will thoroughly expel all depraved humours from the body. Glandular Swellings, Stiff Joints.—This class of complaints yield without difficulty to the cooling and anti-inflammatory properties of this famed Ointment. It should be well rubbed over the affected parts, after due fomention with warm water. It acts by stimulating the absorbents to increased activity, restraining ulceration, and promoting a free and copious circulation in the parts affected, and hence speedily and effectually ensuring a cure. Gout, Rheumatism and Paralysis.—Gout and Rheumatism arise from inflammation in the parts affected,—to effect a permanent cure, adopt a cooling diet, drink plenty of water, take six of these famous Fills night and morning, and rub the Ointment most effectually twice a day into the suffering parts, and a cure is certain. The paralytic patient should take about three Pills twice a week, and let the Ointment be well rubbed into the paralysed limb, which will, in a very little time, be greatly benefited, —indeed many cures have been effected by this treatment. Eruption on the Skin.—ln this class of complaints, no matter the age, the sex, or the place, or under what name, the disease may be classified, it may be cured if this Ointment be well rubbed into the system, and Holloway’s Pills taken night and morning to purify the blood.
