Wellington, May 10, 7.45 p.m. Dr Featherston has issued a brief address, claiming re-election on the gro'und of past services. Auckland news says that the Maori King expressed a wish to meet the Prince, and will probably invite him to meet either at Alexandra or Kopu. Te Wheoro is very anxious to arrange the meeting. A great Hau-hau meeting has been held at Ohineroa, Kereopa attended strongly armed. He stated that he would not move out of his own district to join Kooti’s force, but would join if he came to him. 600 gallons of rum were drunk at the meeting! The rebels murdered a Maori woman for refusing to accompany her husband who had joined them. The Government stock of ammunition is so reduced that an order has been issued prohibiting further sales to volunteers. Dunedin, May 10, 6.45 p.m. Mr Eeid made a long statement of his Ministerial policy this afternoon. He said the Government were bound to agree on the existing land policy, but had a right to individual opinions on a future one.
