RANGIORA PARISH MEETING.
The annual parish meeting was held on April 12, in the schoolroom. The Rev B. W. Dudley occupied the chair. The statement of parish accounts was read, from which it appeared that £9O 17s 9d had been received, and £lOl 19s 8d expended. The accounts were passed. Captain D’Auvergne was elected churchwarden, and the incumbent nominated Mr G. J. Leech. The following vestrymen were elected Messrs Rowley, Merton, Howard, and Burt. School Committee : Messrs Shaw, Stephens, Johnston, and Poole. The incumbent nominated the Hon. G. L. Lee as Synodsman. The following resolution, proposed by Mr Percival, was carried:—“ That a public parish meeting be held twice a year, or more, if necessary.” The following resolution, proposed by Mr Merton, was also agreed to : “ That, in order to provide for the incumbent’s stipend, it is the opinion of this meeting that the voluntary system by all available offertories be adopted for six months, to give a fair trial, and that the ordinary expenses of the church be raised by means of subscriptions.”
