SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE OF IRON, By Leras, M.D., Docteur des Sciences.— Grlraault and Co., Chemists, ParU,—According to the opinion of the members of the Paris Academy of Medicine, this article is superior to all the ferruginous preparations known. It agrees best with the stomach, never causes costireness j it contains the elements of the blood and the osseous frame, and succeeds where other preparations fail, such as Vallet’s Pills, iron reduced by hydrogen, lactate of iron, and ferruginous mineral water. One tablespoonful of the Solution or Syrup contains three grains of salt of iron. They are both colourless. PARIS EXHIBITION, 1867GOLD MEDAL. CLAYTON, SHUTTLEWORTH, & CO., at the great triennial trials of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, held at Bury St. Edmunds, July, 1867, received the following awards:—For single cylinder portable steam engine, the First Prize of £25. For double cylinder portable steam engine, the First Prize of £25. For horizontal cylinder fixed engine, the First Prize of £3O. For double blast finishing thrashing machine, the Prize of £ls. Also the Society’s Silver Medal for adjusting blocks for machines.

The duty performed by all C. S. and Co.’s engines on this occasion, considerably exceeded that of any others. 0. S. and Co. refer with pleasure to the fact that the duty of their “Commercial,” or single valve Engine, at Chester, so long ago as 1858, was not equalled by any “ ordinary ” Engine at Bury.

Each table-spoonful of Syrup contains four grains of perfectly pure hypophosphite of pme, and, as compounded by MM. IGESTIVE ELIXIR OF PEPSINE. Grimault and Co., Chemists, Paris.— Pepsine, the latest scientific discovery of Dr Corvisart, Physician to H.M. the Emperor of the French, is the gastric juice itself, or rather the digestive principle purified, which digests food in the stomach. When, by some cajose or other, the supply of digestive fluid is too small, the inevitable consequences are <had digestion, gastritis, gastraigia, inflammation of the mucous coats of the stomach and bowels, heartburn, pituite, anremia, loss of strength, and (in females) chlorosis.
