A SUGGESTION.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE LI'TTELTON TIMES. Sin,—Hearing of no preparation being made to receive our sailor Prince, the Duke of Edinburgh, I beg to offer a suggestion, which I think if carried out in a proper spirit would give him that welcome above all others which he would most appreciate; that is, to get up a Naval Brigade of all the old men-of-war's men, dressed all alike in man-of-war's rig, with the name of the last ship served in on the ribbons round their hats; I think it would be very easy to get up a Brigade, say of 50. The expenses would be very small. Each man, most likely, would provide and make his own rig, and I feel sure that if this is taken up by the public the old tars here would only be too proud to respond to the call and give our sailor Prince that hearty welcome which none but old shipmates can really appreciate. Your obedient servant, AN ULD TAR.
