AMEEICA. [BY ATLANTIC CABLE.] New Tohk, May 9. The argument for the prosecution of Presideut Johnson closed on the 6th. The Senate met on the 7th inst., and, with closed doors, proceeded to the consideration of various orders presented relative to taking the final vote on impeachment. The Senate finally agreed to adjourn to Monday, aud to take the final vote on the articles on Tuesday, at twelve o'clock, without debate. Senators will be allowed until Thursday to file written opinions regarding their votes. The Senate then adjourned to Monday, the 11th inst. The decision of the impeachment question has been definitely postponed until Thursday, the l-lth inst., when the fate of the President will be decided. Judging from the tone of the New York press, and the proceedings in Congress, appearances indicate more in favour of Johnson's acquittal than his conviction. The questions to be answered by Senators are—--Ist. Has the President the power of removal without the concurrence of the Senate ?

2nd. Does Secretary Stanton come within the Tenure of Office Act ?

3rd. Can the President lawfully make an adinterim appointment during the session of the Senate ?

4th. "Was the President guilty of misprision of perjury in scheming to prevent the operation of the Tenure of Office Act?

Mr Disraeli sought an immediate audience of the Queen, aud placed his resignation in Her Majesty's hands. Her Majesty refused to accept Mr Disraeli's resignation. Mr Disraeli has said that the right to dissolve Parliament was only reserved by the Ministry in case the issue upon the Irish Church question was pressed to a division.

A large aud uoisy meeting was held in St James's Hall on the 6th, in favour of continuance of the Irish Church establishment, the Archdeacon of Canterbury iu the chair. Mr Whitbred moved in the House of Commons a resolution to withdraw the annual grant of £30,000 to Mayuooth College. The motion was agreed to. The Reform Bill for Ireland has been road a second time.

Petitions for commutation of punishment of the Fenian prisoner, Barrett, convicted of complicity in Clerkenwell explosion, got up by Mr John Bright, were presented to Gathome Hardy. General Nagle, and other Fenian prisoners, have been released from confinement, on giving required pledges.

GERMANY. A commerciaVtreaty, recently made with Spain, has been ratified by the North German Diet. South German States threaten to leave the Customs' diet, in case the address issued by the Party of German Unity should receive consideration at the hands of the Zollverein. Mr Bancroft, American Minister, is urging the Bavarian Government to join in the Naturalization Treaty, which was recently concluded between North Germany and the United States.

EUSSIA. Count Stackleberg has been appointed Ambassador at Paris, vice Baron Budberg resigned. Baron De Talleyrand Perigord, French Envoy Extraordinary, has had a consultation with Prince GortschakorF, upon the subject of mediation by France and Russia in the TurcoCretan question.

AUSTRIA. A despatch states that Baron Orevelli, the Austrian Ambassador at Rome, died in that city on the 2nd inst.

CANDIA. A battle, which endured the entire day, was fought at Apocorona on the 14th April, and the insurgents claimed a victory. Fights had also taken place between' the army of liberation and the troops of the Sultan, on the 11th, 12th, 15th, and 16th of April, but without decisive result.

JAPAN. Lounoir, May 6. A telegram from Hong Kong states that the United States Minister to Japan, General von Halkenburg, is at Osaka, and has made a demand upon the Mikado for indemnity for damage occasioned to the property of American citizens in the late disturbance. He is supported in hia demand by the French Envoy, and by the presence of a portion of the American and French East Indian fleets.

[BT CUBAIf CABLE.] Havana, 13th May, 10 a.m. News has been received from Europe and the United States up to the evening of the 12th May. Th#lmpeachment Committee were to give their decision yesterday, but the proceedings were suspended until Saturday, when they will finally declare whether the President be guilty or not guilty, The general belief is, that he will be acquitted.
