Tom Sayers took the first prize at Kirkintulloch, when only two years old ; second prize at the Highland Society's Show at Dumfries; and when three years old, first prize at Dalbeatie, Galloway; same year, second prize at the Highland Society's Show at Perth ; and at four years, first prize at Cupar-Fife ; when five years old, first prize at Hamilton, Lanarkshire. Tom Sayers was bred by Mr Lockhart, Kirkmanoch, Stranraer, out of a thorougli-bred Clydesdale Mare, got by Rob Roy, the sire of Black Leg, PEMGKEE.-Scotland's Pride was foaled in 1857, bred by Mr John Anderson, of Smythson, Scotland; her dam, the celebrated Clydesdale Mare, which gained tht* first prize at the Highland Society's Show at Dumfries, in 1860, beating thirty-two others, considered very superior over all in her class (See Journal of Agriculture of the Highland Society of Scotland), The Mre was the celebrated Clydesdale Horse, Lofty, who gained the premium at Glasgow, open to all Scotland and England. Scotland's Pride was in foal, 18G1 (when sold to Mr Lee), to Mr Peter Crawford's Bay Horse, which gained the first prize in the Three-year-old Class at the Highland Society's Show at Dumfries, in 18C0.
