A Monster Egg. —We were recently shown a large egg, laid by a white-faced Spanish hen, the property of Mr. Harvey, of Lichfield street. The egg, which is 3J inches long and 6£ in circumference, weighs 4 ozs. The a Penal Settlement.— A reliable report has reached us that it is the intention of the General Government to forward about 150 Native Hau-hau prisoners, captured in the late engagements on the East Coast, to,the Chatham Islands. Capt. Thomas hasten re-appointed under additional military rank, to hold them in safe custody, in addition to _ his appointment as Civil Magistrate of the islands.
