ARRIVAL OF STEPHENS IN PARIS.

The Morning Post of Dec. 2 contains the following announcement:— " Stephens, the escaped Fenian, is now in Paris." The Paris correspondent of the Morning Herald, refers to the rumoured arrival of Stephens, which had been announced previously by the correspondent of the London Express. The former writer says it was rumoured all over Paris on Thursday morning that Stephens had arrived there", and an English visitor, who dropped in at the Bourse in the afternoon, was regularly mobbed, some ill-natured mystificator having given out that he was the celebrated "Head-Centre." " All I can say is," addß the correspondent, " that if he has arrived here, he keeps very quiet, as he must well know that, in the event

of his conspiring or engaging in Fenianism here, it would lead to his being despatched out Of the country." Additional confirmation of Stephens's escape is afforded by the following letter* which the Irishman of Saturday last publishes' simply as an item of news, without identify' ing itself with its contents :— " Paris, 27th Nov., 1865 " Mr. Editor—l take the liberty of writi'm? you these few lines to inform you that your braVe countryman, Stephens, who escaped so happily from Dublin prison, has arrived safe and sound in Paris ! He is even to be seen during the last two days, surrounded by numerous friends, dining in one of the great restaurants of the Boulevart des Italiens. " Tis needless »o tell you, Mr. Editor, how all the world was delighted on hearing that Mr. Stephens had escaped from the hands of those traitorous English, always eager for the noble blood of Irishmen. " We are all convinced here that the day i s not far distant when Ireland shall break for ever the Saxon chains which keep hex bound so long, and will resuscitate, as they say, and as we all hope, in France, 'Great, glorious and free.'—l have the honour to be, sir, your obedient servant, " J. DE LOWGUEVILLE, "A thorough admirer of the Irish Nation "Rue Royale, St. Honore."
