CHRISTCHURCH. Thuhbday, vsb. 16. (Beforo C. C. Bi>wen, Esq., 8.M.) James Young charged with being drunk'an J inoapablo, was discharged with a caution. Isaac Parish and four other persons, were fined 10s each, for breaches of the Cattle Trespass, Police, and Footpath Ordinances. George "White was charged with violently assaulting Richard Sparkes, on the 6th inst. Riohnra Sparkes complainant, a lad of about lo years of age, doposed that on Monday morning last, he took a; note to defendant from Mr. Saundery, and that defendant told him he hud told a lie and shook him, hit him twice and kicked him three times. Complainant then went away. Defendant said that complainant _ told a falsehood, and that he merely shook him and tola

Thoa. Sheridan. was charged with assaulting Catherine Sheridan hie wife, and putting her in fear of her life. Mr. Cot troll appeared for the complainant. Catherine Sheridan deposed that defendant ggsaulted her on Saturday last, and had done so previously, and she was consequently J« fear - She had been driven out 6f the hoiiso by him. The case was adjourned for further evidence. John Heenan mi David Plnlhps,. two httlo bow, were charged with stealing fruit £<wn tbo nzden of Henry D. Manmnjr, on the 10th ins*. little eirl deposed to seeing the boys m the SLlSffdeposed to having seen the boy# «b#ut the garden at various times. The boy Heenan said they were chasing a rabbit and that they had eaten no fruit. Phillips said they had picked up each a peach, delivered the boys over to their parents, after admonishing them, and rocotnoended that Heonon shoula bo punished, as he bad told a falsehood.
