GENTLEMEN, —An election for a seat in the Provincial Council having been rendered necessary by the retirement of one of the members for this district, I beg to offer myself as a candidate. Amongst the reasons which have induced me to do so are the following That the : agricultural interest in the province has not hitherto been adequately represented in the 1 Council ; and that this district in particular i has not had a fair share of the advantages which should have accrued to it from the application of its land revenue. '' These reasons seem to me to acquire additional weight from the fact that, during the 1 next session of the Council, the Estimates for the ensuing year will be brought forward and ■ considered. I shall take an early opportunity to meet > you in public, in order more fully to explain to you my views on these subjects, and shall 3 be happy to answer any questions you may wish to put to me. r I remain, gentlemen, Your obedient servant, 6068 0 W. M. MASKELL.
