ENTLEMEN,—An election for a seat JT in the Provincial Council having been endered necessary by the retirement of one f the members for this district, I beg to offer lyself as a candidate. Amongst the reasons which have induced ie to do so are the following :—That the gricultural interest in the province has not itherto been adequately represented in the Council; and that this district in particular ias not had a fair share of the advantages rhich should have accrued to it from the aplication of its land revenue. These reasons seem to me to acquire addiional weight from the fact that, during the ext session of the Council, the Estimates for tie ensuing year will be brought forward and onsidered. I shall take an early opportunity to meet ou in public, in order more fully to .explain > you vcty views on these subjects, and shall e happy to answer any questions you may r ish to put to me. I remain, gentlemen, Your obedient servant, )68 o W. M. MASKELL.
