ZlXeotloaa. AdLcaLreuea. TO THE ELECTORS OF LYTTELTON. GENTLEMEN, -At the request of several Electors, I am induced to offer myself as a Candidate at the next election for the vacant seat in the Provincial Council, caused by the resignation of Mr. Bowler. Should I have the honour of being returned as one of your representatives, you may rely upon my time and services being given in the Council to : forward the interest of the town and port of Lyttelton. I remain, Gentlemen, Yours respectfully, : E. A. HARGREAVES. Lyttelton, 15th April, 1865. c 4442 TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE LYTTELTON MUNICIPAL COUNCIL, E. A. HARGREAVES, ESQ. SIR,— In consequence of the irregularity and nonattendance of members of the Town Council, from time to time, there is no quorum, and the business of the town and the general welfare of the ratepayers are neglected ; and as I do not wish to form one of the party who must ultimately be censured, I beg you will accept my resignation in the corporate body. I am, Sir, Yours respectfully, 4881 c I. N. FAIRHURST. TO THE ELECTORS AND NON-ELECTORS OF LYTTELTON. GENTLEMEN,— No doubt but that many of the Ratepayers will be surprised at my resigning my seat at the Board of Town Council, so soon after being elected as a member thereof; but in. consequence of the previous resignation of two of the J members, and the difficulty in forming a quorum, no business has for some time been done. I there fore have resigned, to give the Chairman the power i which is vested in him, when there are not sufficient , members according to the Ordinance, which is now the case, of calling for an Election to fill up the vacancies. I shall again offer my services to the ratepayers, and trust that, during the brief period I have been in office as one of the members of the Town Council, I shall not have lost their confidence. I remain, Gentlemen, Yours, respectfully, I. N. FAIRHURST. Lyttelton, May 5, 1865. c 4836 Bulldlag Materials.
