A SUGGESTION FOR THE CITY COUNCIL.
TO THIS EDITOR OF TUB LYTTELTON TIMES. Sir,—Allow me through the medium of your valuable journal to call the attention of our City Council to a desideratum very much felt by the inhabitants of Christchurch. I allude to the want of accommodation for bathers. We have a fine stream running through the town, but owing to the muddy state of its banks there is no inducement held out to bathers to indulge in a plunge. Yet what is more invigorating at this season of the year than a refreshing walk and cool dip at early morn? There are numbers of our citizens who would hail with delight the prospect of such a boon as the clearing of a few feet frontage to the river and the erection of two or three steps, which would enable them to indulge in a luxury now almost forgotten. I feel assured our energetic Council have only to learn that such a want is felt and the needful accommodation will be at once provided, since the cost would be a mere bagatelle. Trusting the matter may receive your support, I beg to subscribe myself BATHER
