THE Proprietors, in publishing this Prospectus, desire briefly to inform the public as to their intentions. All political events of importance throughout New Zealand will be noticed by the Timaru Herald, but more especially those having reference to the Province of Canterbury. The district of Timaru being second to no part of New Zealand as a field for the agriculturist, and containing immense blocks of the finest pastoral land, must, at no distant period, take a position of equality with the older established portions of this Island; to obtain which position a steadily progressive line of policy will be advocated. The lyttelton municipal council are prepared to award the sum of ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS (£150) to any person who shall by artesian boring discover a spring of water within the town of Lyttelton. The spring must not discharge less than fifteen gallons (15) per minute.
