POST OFFICE NOTICE.
ALTERATION OF MAILS TO TIMARU, FROM TWICE TO THREE TIMES A WEEK. On and after tho Ist proximo, the South Road Mails will close at Christchurch every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 7 a.in. The mails for Christchurch and intermediate offices will close at Timaru on the same days and hours. A ship mail for London, per White Star, will close at Christchurch at noon, and at Lyttelton at 2 p.m., on the 3rd proximo. Letters to be forwavded by this opportunity must be specially addressed " per White Star." Mails for Dunedin and the Bluff, per s.s. Phoebe, will close at Christchurch at 8.30 a.m., and at Lytlelton at 10.30 a.m., on the Ist proximo. F. E. Wkiottt, Chief Postmaster. Chief Post Office, Christchurch, Jan. 2lj, IBM.
