WHEREAS, by the above mentioned Ordinance It is amongst other things enacted 1 that for the purpose of bringing the said Ordinancfe into operation, every person whose name should appear on the Electoral Roll for the lime being in force for the Election of Members of the Provincial Council for the Electoral District or Districts in which the District for the purpose of the said Ordinance may be situated in respect of property situate within such last mentioned District, and every resident householder within such District should be taken and deemed to be a ratepayer for the purposes of this Ordinance, and that a meeting of such Electors should be held at the hour of noon on such day for each District respectively as the Superintendent should appoint after the first day of the month of September, 1863, for the purpose of electing five members who shall constitute the first Board for the District. Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, do hereby appoint that a meeting of the Electors for the West Avon District shall be held at Parish's Inn, on the Great South Road, within the said district, at the hour of noon on MONDAY,, the 25th January, one thousand eight hundred and sixtyfour, for the purpose of electing five members who shall constitute the first Board for the said District. WHEREAS by the above-mentioned Ordinance, it is amongst other tilings enacted, that for the purpose of bringing the said Ordinance into operation every person whose name should appear on the Electoral Roll, for the time being, in force for the Election of members of the Provincial Council for the Electoral District, or Districts, in which the District for the purposes of the said Ordinance may be situated in respect of property situate within such last mentioned District, and every Resident Householder within such District shall be taken and deemed to be a rate-payer for the purposes of this Ordinance, and that a meeting of such Electors should be held at the hour of noon, on such day for each District respectively as the Superintendent should appoint after the first day of the month of December, 1863, for the purposes of Electing Five Members who shall constitute the first Board for the District.
