THE ALMANAC will contain, among other matter, ephemeris and astronomical informs tion, directions for gardening, a narrative of events for the past year for each province, and a directory of most of the principal towns in the South Island; lists of publicans' licenses, articles liable to Customs duty, fees in Magistrates' Courts, fees adopted by Chamber of Commerce, Post-office arrangements, table of arrival and despatch of mails, stage carriages, fares, destinations, and time-table, railway fares and rates for goods, registration of births, &c., officiating ministers, list of vessels trading with Lyttelton, notices to mariners and signals in use at the various ports of New Zealand quarantine regulations, tables of land and cubic measure, wine and spirit, ale and beer measures; carpenters', bricklayers', masons', plasterers', and slaters' tables; digging and well sinking, wool, coal, and avoirdupois weight tables; instructions to calculate the weight of cattle, and hay in a stack; forms of bills or promissory notes, and other useful information. Professionalmen, tradesmen and others wishing their names and addresses inserted in the Canterbury Directory are requested to furnish same to the publishers, 'Times' Office, on or before Monday, November 16.
