KOHLER begs to inform the inhabitants # of Christchurch and surrounding district— that he has taken a lease of the above groundsFour Acres in extent, and delightfully situated on the Lincoln road, within an easy distance of any part of Christchurch, no expense has been spared in laying them out. The ground having been entirely remodelled and planted with the most choice collection of Flowers and Plants, imported expressly from Melbourne, under the entire superintendence of Mr. Greenaway. and will be found to be the most perfect Flower Garden and Promenade Ground in New Zealand. THE BALL ROOM, 50 feet by 25, designed and built by Mr. Dartnell, capable of accommodating 300 persons, is situated at the North end of the Gardens, over which it commands a splendid view, being decorated in the most recherche manner, and fitted with every convenience, including several Retiring Rooms, Card Room, Supper Room, &c., &c. THE GYMNASIUM, Now in course of construction, will he replete with all the latest improved apparatus, and will include Bars, Pulleys. Clubs, Rings, Ladders, Swings, Dumbbells, Spring Boards, for jumping, vaulting, Sec., &c. Attached to the Gymnasium, will be erected A SHOWER BATH For the use of Subscribers. THE RIFLE GALLERY.—RANGE, 105 FEET Has been constructed on the most approved principle —and gentlemen may rely on having the choice of all kinds of superior Rifles by the best modern makers. THE ARCHERY GROUND Will be provided with a superior stock of Bows, Arrows, Targets, and every requisite, and will be at the service of Ladies and Gentlemen desirous of forming a select Club for practice during the forthcoming season. THE MAZE, The only one in the Southern Hemisphere, is most beautifully planted with upwards of one mile of CAPE BROOM, Now in beautiful blossom, and upwards of 10 feet in height. The plan of the Maze is from a design of James Alexander, Esq., Needham Market, Suffolk, England. QUOITS, Parties fond of the healthful game of QUOITS will find every convenience. Quoits by the best makers have been obtained. DURING THE COMING SEASON, SEVERAL GRAND GALA NIGHTS Have been arranged for, on which accasions THE GARDENS WILL BE BRILLIANTLY ILLUMINATED WITH INNUMERABLE JAPANESE LANTERNS AND VARIEGATED LAMPS, And in addition to other novelties, A GRAND PYROTECHNIC DISPLAY On a most elaborate scale will take place, for which purpose, the services of two of the most eminent professors in fireworks have been secured from Dunedin and Melbourne. ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS, GRAND FASHIONABLE PROMENADE CONCERTS BY A SPLENDID BRASS BAND, In addition to which THE BROTHERS KOHLER Will perfosm some of their most popular Duetts for CORNET-A-PISTONS, CONCERTINAS, ROCK HARMONICONS, &c!, &c. ON ORDINARY AFTERNOONS, MR. KOHLER'S DRAWING-ROOM BAND Will perform Overtures, Operatic Selections, Solos, j Duetts, &c., &c., also the most choice and modern Dance Music. SPECIAL NOTICE. The Gardens will at all times be open to the public, for Holidays and Private Fetes, and any person wishing to engage the entire grounds, for Dinners, Wedding Parties, Pic-nics, or other purposes; will find every accommodation on the most reasonable terms. MR. KOHLER will still continue to attend Evening Parties with his UNRIVALLED QUADRILLE BAND, All communications to be addressed to the Gardens. MR. KOHLER would wish to make it understood that his Establishment will not, in any manner resemble what is generally known as a CREMORNE, but that it will be conducted entirely on the principle of a private pleasure ground; and, in order to carry out these intentions, Mr. Kohler assures his patrons and the public that it is his firm determination not to admit any persons likely in any way to interferewiththe respectability of thepromenade, and any persons misconducting themselves will be immediately expelled from the grounds.
