GENTLEMEN,— I have received your requisition calling upon me to allow myself to be put in nomination for the seat in the Provincial Council vacant by the resignation of Mr. Harston. I regret exceedingly to find that Mr. Sprot is ineligible, being convinced that he would have represented you much more efficiently than I can expect to do. My services, such as they are, I shall be happy to place at your disposal; and, should I be elected, you may rely upon my giving the fullest attention to any subject which may be brought before the Council; and further, that no' vote shall be recorded by me except after mature deliberation.
