CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.
The City Council held their usual weekly meeting on Monday evening last. The following resolutions were passed:— That the tender of Lambert and Burrows, for the erection of posts and rails, be accepted. That the City Surveyor be authorised to accept Messrs. Millton and Co's, or Montgomery and Go's tender for the supply of timber for the above, as he may think proper. That the Surveyor be instructed to have the footpath on the east side of Montreal street levelled where it is crossed by Cashel and Gloucester streets. A letter was read from Mr. Hemmings of High street, requesting the Council to lay down 30 feet of kerbing opposite his establishment. Mr. W. Pearce was elected Inspector of Nuisances. There were 46 candidates for the office.
