CORRESPONDENCE.

THE HUNTRESS. TO TITK EDITOR OF THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Sir, —Having witnessed and read of many ridiculous complaints lodged against Captain J. 0. Barrow, of the ship Huntress, by a few dissatisfied emigrants, I think it nothing more than my duty as a passenger to beg space in your widely circulated columns to express the gratitude of myself and near relatives for the great attention and kindness of captain and officers. My wife having been an invalid the whole voyage, I have had ample proof of their great generosity and sympathy. He was most indefatigable in improving and making comfortable all parts of the ship, to do which he employed two extra carpenters throughout the voyage, the accommodation being intolerable when we sailed. Emigrants were allowed more privileges than I ever saw in any other ship, especially at the commencement of the voyage, being very rough; and I believe had the captain been less sociable and generous to them, fewer complaints would have been made. Trusting they will soon find some colonial employ more profitable than trying to injure a captain who has landed them safely after a most perilous voyage, I am, Sir, your most respectfully, E. PILBROW.
