LEITHFIELD is situated 27 miles north from Christchurch, the Great North read running through its centre. There is a good road to the beach (which is about a mile and a quarter distant), and visitors and families residing temporarily in the neighbourhood for health sake, have every facility for enjoying the bracing sea breeze. LEITHFIELD is already well known, and a lengthy description of it is unnecessary; numbers have visited the place, and felt highly satisfied, not only with its situation, but with the accommodation it affords for recreation. LEITHFIELD is the centre of a large and improving agricultural district, and has amongst its inhabitants a medical practitioner. There are likewise resident there a blacksmith, butcher, and nursery gardener, buildings for government offices, and a residence for the district engineer are in course of erection, and a church will very soon be built. The hotel, which at present affords every comfort, is about being enlarged, so as to meet the requirements of the increasing number of visitors and residents. A great number of sections have already been sold, both by public auction and privately, those disposed of at auction realising from £12 10s. to £22, which proves the value of the site. The remaining sections of the township now laid out are for sale on easy terms of payment. Early applications are requested. The land on the right side of the Great North road is likewise for sale, in lots from a quarter of an acre upwards, at prices varying according to position. This portion of the property is very valuable, and will, no doubt, meet with speedy sale. Plans can be seen and every information afforded on application to W. & N.
