LYTTELTON MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

Friday, April 24. The members of the Council held their usual weekly meeting at the Resident Magistrate's Court, on Friday evening, April 24th. Mr. Willcox was elected to occupy the chair. After the minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed, a letter was read from England Brothers, requesting an advance of 75 per cent, for work done at the new Hospital, and another from Mr. Brooke, London street, requesting the permission of the Council to lay a footpath down in front of his shop, formed of flag-stones obtained by him from Hobart Town at a cost of £30; also, a further request, that the Council would grant him a share of the expenses of the same. A resolution was carried, agreeing to Mr. Brooke's request to lay down the footpath, under the direction of the 1 own Survej'or, and an allowance equal to the same the Town Council would have to expend on this portion of the street. A report from the Town Surveyor was read, detailing what was necessary for the repairs of the Dampier's Bay road, Sumner road, and properly forming London street. The Council adopted the general suggestions contained in the report. The Surveyor was instructed to proceed with the formation of the footpath on the north side of London street. Ihe consideration of the by-laws suggested in the report of the Committee on Nuisances was postponed for consideration at their next sitting. On the motion of Mr. Wilcox, seconded by Mr. Prkeck, the Council resolved to vote the sum of £100, to supply the necessary ladders, tools, &c., to render the fire engine efficient. The Fire Brigade committee to report to the Council what is required for the same. After passing the accounts, the Council adjourned.
